We are considering moving to Augusta, Georgia. I have a 5-year-old son. Which elementary school is considered the best in the region? We don't mind a little further away from the city. Choosing the best school will be our most priority. The school will determine where we will look for a house. Your respond will be highly valued. Thank you.

if you live in evans (columbia county) stevens creek is probably the best, then I would put greenbrier or riverside next best

footdock,
Thank you for replying. Will look into your suggestion.

Also, what's the basic cost for public school (approximate)? The reason that I am asking is because, we live in Portland, OR. Our government only pays for half of the day, so we need to pick up the rest half of the day tuition fee for public school. The cost is about $350/month in here. Thanks in advance!

There is no additional monthly fee for public education in Augusta or Evans, GA. The cost is covered by good ol' state and local taxes. the only extra monies would be if you want your kids to eat lunch at school

My daughter attends Lake Forest Hills Elementary in Augusta and it is by farthe best elementary school in Richmond County. They have an International Baccalaureate program. Better than private school in my opinion.

When we moved to Evans from the DC area last year, our #1 priority was school zoning. We chose to live in the areas zoned for all three Greenbrier Schools (elem, middle & high school). Most Columbia Co. schools are considered good or even great (honestly there really are a lot of great areas to choose from), but I consistently heard the most positive info. about the three Greenbrier schools. This is true suburbia with great family neighborhoods. The only downside is that it is a 20 - 30 min. drive to non-chain restaurants, shopping etc. which are in Augusta. We've loved living in Evans overall though.

Blue Ridge Elementary in Martinez, which feeds into Lakeside High School, is highly regarded as well.
