the NewU curriculum will change and the students will have to make some tough decisions. No sir the SEC didn't ask Baylor or Clemson, having Texas in the name allow the SEC the claim all Texas not just College Station. Naming the NewU Georgia A&M would make Augusta a "college town" on the same living as Athens and Columbia. We should do it before cities like Columbus and Savannah decide to.

Why would any university in Columbus or Savannah change the name to Georgia A&M?? The Hull College of Business is much more than a tough decision(Princeton Review)...

The Hull College of Business -- News

The term A&M will confused alot of people, because agricultural and mechanical initially comes to mind..

I can understand the fear in everyone over Georgia A&M, how I say no matter the name, the school will continue, I say lets do it, take a chance. What bad can come from it.

Being that this is the smallest of the four research university, the name Georgia A&M fits perfectly.

University of Georgia
Georgia Institution of Technology
Georgia State University
University of Augusta???
Georgia Arts and Sciences University(Georgia A&M)

When did the arts become the sole focus of ASU? If the university grows to reach a certain level, then donations will be given to the school...

How does a new law school relate to Georgia A&M? The University of Augusta is something unique, and doesn't sound like the little brother of another school...

"Norton Guy", been reading your posts for a couple of years now. We seem to always be on the same page. Never felt a need to register (and reply) until now. "River_Dawg", "dpatt.marine1", and "amlovingit" are correct. Georgia A&M is absolutely PERFECT!!!

"Agricultural and Mechanical" may have come to mind 30 or 40 years ago but not any more.
See Texas A&M info below. There is (of course) much more on their web site.

Texas A&M University: The sixth-largest university in the United States, A&M's enrollment for Fall 2011 was over 50,000 for the first time in school history.Texas A&M's designation as a land, sea and space grant institution reflects a broad range of research with ongoing projects funded by agencies such as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the Office of Naval Research.

The letters "A&M", originally short for "Agricultural and Mechanical", are retained "ONLY" as a link to the university's past.

Yes, I copied much of this this from Wikipedia, but the info is accurate. Spent a lot of time on College Station campus. Too bad "ASU" does'nt have football team. "GO SOONERS!!!"

Georgia A&M. I love it! It's perfect!

As a student of Augusta State University, University of Augusta sounds like a sister college to Virginia College. The six names that were given a few weeks ago are all disappointing. Georgia A&M sounds classy and will gain national attention. But knowing people in Augusta we will probably let this one bring us down.

A Georgia A&M would takeover downtown Augusta. How convenient would be to have an art district and medical district already in place for the NewU to art claim its own or at the very lest weld great influence. Georgia A&M would have two farm high schools in A R Johnson and Davidson Fine Art.
