Large... Dave & Busters, Cheesecake Factory, Chipotle, California Pizza Kitchen, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, REI, Gander Mountain, etc...

Small... Brooks Brothers, J Crew, Diesel, Bebe, Juicy Couture, BCBG, etc,,

A new hotel might be the next thing announced for the VAR. Let's hope it's something new to the market like Hilton or Embassy Suites.

I'm with you on that one. Is Gander Mountain even needed now? That would be overkill. REI would be nice and probably will end up in CC along with Whole Foods.

It's obvious that Augusta is going to have some sort of Upscale shopping area away from Augusta Mall and the Exchange. So it's up to VAR and WTP. WTP has the edge due to being located at 2 interstates. VAR has more land. I guess all we can do is wait and see.

That's going to be very hard to get both considering the majority of WTP is located in Richmond County.

The Village at Riverwatch area is richer compared to the area surrounding WTP. The Augusta Canal is also being incorporated into the development especially with Cabela's. People maybe able to take trips on the canal back and forth between the development/Enterprise Mill near the CBD like proposed before the recession.

The VAR will send ripples through the downtown neighborhoods, all the way to the river and beyond.

The VAR is only around 10 minutes to the CBD, and urban core...

Cabela's will incorporate the canal, and hopefully you will be able to take the boat ride from the Enterprise Mill/VAR....

With the news that both Bass Pro and Cabelas are going with smaller ~50K sq. ft. stores, it is likely that neither will have the consumer draw that their larger 'supercenter' stores will have.

Honestly, with Dick's Sporting Goods at the mall, Bass Pro at WTP, Cabelas at VAR, Academy Sports in Evans and Aiken, and Sports Authority at the exchange, the 'sporting and outdoor goods' market is going to be pretty saturated for the metro and one or more of these stores is very likely to close. Has anyone been to Sports Authority in the Augusta Exchange lately? Huge store (similar in size to Dick's and the upcoming Bass Pro and Cabelas) and it's ABSOLUTELY DEAD inside. Either Bass Pro or Cabelas won't perform spectacularly IMO, because they're basically the same store in the same area...idk, maybe it'll luck out and Bass Pro will be supported by Cola County and Cabelas will be supported by the SC side. Honestly think Cabelas will be better considering the novelty of the location on the canal, the proximity to Costco (a regional draw), and the fact that VAR is going to have the 2nd of 2 first-run movie theaters in Augusta. Maybe I'm just being cynical, but honestly, how many 'outdoor superstores' can the metro support?

Sports Authority and Dicks both suck when it come to outdoors equipment, I get tired of going to Academy because they don't have the latest products most of the time. I think bass pro and cabela will get by just fine especially with their boat sales, Tracker for BPS and Alumacraft for Cabelas should do very well.

The Cabela's location has been grated entirely and seems set for the next phase of construction... dozers and backhoe's operating on site at the entrance. I was just in there the other week and nothing had been done at all, the boys over there have been moving some dirt!
