A speakeasy is coming to Aiken. Much like speakeasies during the Prohibition era, you will have to have a password to get in.

Don't know what took the Chronicle so long. Aiken Standard reported this over two weeks ago. Aiken's newest restaurant requires password to get in | Aiken Standard

There is no Bonefish, nor have I ever heard one in any conversations to come. Mellow Mushroom is not open yet. There's also no Olive Garden and not one planned, though it is rumored among the locals.

Olive Garden is a Darden Restaurant like Red Lobster and Longhorn, so I always thought it made sense to open up there, too. Bonefish and Outback are the same parent company as one another, too.

To be fair, the question was what had opened in the past year, and none of those are open.

I was always surprised there wasn't either an Olive Garden or Carrabas there but I guess there are some good local places.

Bonefish is coming to a new development in Florence so makes sense Aiken would get one too if they are in expansion mode.

Did the pizza place in the alley closed? I forget what it was called. I guess Pizza Joint might have hurt it.

Ferrando's? Man that's been a while! He had one at one point in "the Valley" on highway 421 and the one in the Alley. Closed the one on 421 first and opened over on Whiskey Rd across from Walmart. For a short time there was even a delivery and carry-out only location on Whiskey near where Moe's is now. The one in the Alley eventually closed and he opened up another location in the same complex as the new Walmart on Richland Avenue.

I was told today that the Mellow Mushroom opening in the Alley has been pushed back to a May timeframe. This was because the city or development authority down there took issue with paint colors in the patio area.
