Uno is based in Boston, so it wouldn't be them unless the story is wrong.

Is it Chicago style deep dish pizza or just a pizza chain based in Chicago?

It is the first time we are seeing what the lobby of the future of the SunTrust building in downtown Augusta could look like.

Ryan Downs, with Broad and Eleventh, LLC, released the concept art for the lobby to News 12 NBC 26 Wednesday.

It is a modern look with a shared workspace feel, said Downs.

The development company wants to market the building to millenial friendly companies and businesses in the cyber field.

Staff with Augusta-Richmond County government will meet with Downs and others during the next two weeks to finalize plans for other parts of the building.

It's sad that there is not one apartment or condo complex with marble and modernist designer interiors... but of corse these office buildings let's give them luxury....

Pattie Stolz has lived in Augusta for 35 years, and she said there is more life now compared to when she first moved here.

"There really was nothing to come downtown for," Stolz said.

Stolz said she enjoys hanging out downtown and likes seeing others taking advantage of our city.

"One thing I love when I come and sit on patio you see more people walking when they are downtown , people out walking and kind of looking in the shops," Stolz said.

Stolz said she hopes to start seeing more open signs than closed.

"In the downtown area you want some things you can go get that you're not going to find anywhere else," Stolz said. "You're not going to find it nationally you're going to find it only here."

Businesses have started to see the same potential that Stolz sees, and some plans have already been made to turn vacant spaces into the next big thing.

Commercial real estate agent Parker Dye said there is a trend in the downtown market.

"It's grown. There is more interest," Dye said. "The people that are looking to open up businesses like that have seen the success that others have had down that way, and they want to be a part of it."

Dye said the bar and dining atmosphere is already booming, but we can expect even more.

"Honestly, now is the time. There is a lot going on down there," Dye said. "I think people will continue to go with that success and get in at the right time before it explodes."

This means more for Stolz and the rest of the city to enjoy.

"Hearing all the progress they want to make and the different things they want to bring in, I think that's going to bring a lot of business here, not just from locally, but I think outside businesses," Stolz says

I was thinking the same thing. again what wa sthe plan for the property? I know there have been lots of ideas.. ut somehow they all fell thru. Also it looks like the apartments at Wrightsboro and RA dent might be in jeopardy as the commission is not really happy about the city paying 80% of the costs and the private developer only chipping in 20%. The commission still has yet to approve the bonds

Renovations to start on 901 Broad Street. Nine apartments plus retail space.

Quote:
Bryan Haltermann, president of Haltermann Partners Inc., last week acquired 901 Broad St., a three-story corner property that he intends to convert into nine loft apartments sitting above restaurant and retail space on the ground floor.

“The corner space is undoubtedly going to be a restaurant,” said Haltermann, who purchased the building through a limited liability company from the five owners of Cranston Engineering Group, who once had their own plans to renovate the 13,000-square-foot building at Broad Street and James Brown Boulevard.

Haltermann said he has had numerous inquiries from restaurants and retailers interested in the two 3,000-square-foot commercial spaces, but no commitments yet. He expects the nine apartments to fill up quickly; the 60 loft apartments he owns in other buildings throughout the central business district are near 100 percent occupancy.

Construction barriers could be erected as early as next week and renovations should begin within 60 days, he said, with completion occurring early next year.
