That's precisely my point. This package deals with maintaining, updating or replacing existing city services and facilities but not outside groups like the Imperial etc. so its a good package for the city at this time.

What I'm saying is... if you are broke... don't go out and spend $10 Million dollars you don't have... on something you don't need (other than to stroke your ego.)

According to a study put forth by the chamber of commerce, 54% of the county's sale tax is paid by non-residents.
Quote:
A new study commissioned by the Metro Augusta Chamber of Commerce estimates non-county residents pay as much as 54 percent of sales tax revenue.
The finding bolsters support for special purpose local option sales tax 7, which backers say is fair because non-residents help fund sales tax projects inside Richmond County.
The study compared net county sales tax revenue to the amount it would be “expected” to collect based on its percentage of the state population, according to a news release.
“Based on population, Richmond County’s pull factor would be 45 percent, but based on a more complete analysis that includes purchasing power of that population, the pull factor increases to an estimated 54 percent,” it said.
“This type of information is very helpful as we work to support a tax climate that is good for our business community,” Chamber President Sue Parr said.
