UPDATE| Planned site for Scuttle's Island remains empty lot
Not a single mention in the article of contacting the real estate company listed on the sign to ask a few questions. That would be my first phone call if I were a reporter...

Doesn't look like this thing will happen.Maybe the investors that was putting up the 20 million have become nervous and got cold feet. They are promising a memorial day opening and its getting close to march and the for sale signs on the land is still up.

The Lights of the South guy has said repeatedly that the slides and other pieces have already been in fabrication for some time over in Asia. I'm wondering if that was ever true at this point, because if they were, they would've been here by now since it was technically supposed to open LAST year in ColCo. Companies don't house your purchases of such a large physical size for free out of the goodness of their hearts. Wondering if it was all a ruse.

It looks like Mr. Bell is out of the project. Plans are still moving forward with a Summer opening planned. I'll believe when I see it....
Quote:
Andrew Thompson, a partner and spokesman with Cedar Rock Holdings LLC, the investment group planning to construct the water park off Interstate 20 Exit 5, said during a Thursday morning news conference that the $21 million project has been delayed several weeks by “a very unfortunate internal personnel issue” involving one of the group’s partners.
Thompson confirmed the personnel issue involved Benjamin Bell, a prominent figure from the project’s early days who was the subject of a larceny investigation in November by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. He also was linked to liens on property in Columbia County where Cedar Rock Holdings had initially planned to build the water park before moving it to North Augusta.
Thompson said Bell is no longer affiliated with the development company.
“The members of Cedar Rock Holdings felt it would be most prudent to resolve that issue prior to moving forward with any meaningful progress,” he said during the event held at the offices of its Augusta-based marketing firm Ocozzio. “We are happy to report that as of 4:45 Monday, that issue has been resolved.”
He declined to elaborate further, citing legal reasons.
Thompson said the size and scope of Scuttle’s Island has not changed, but said that the earliest it would open would be the end of June.
Despite the personnel problems and not having all the necessary real estate and government permits in hand, Thompson said the park’s investors are committed to seeing the project through, and have already sunk about $7.5 million into the project.
