The idea is to create a Cyber Village and the first phase at the Sibley Mill is set to begin construction soon. A partnership between the city(data center, etc) and Augusta University(classrooms, labs, offices, etc). Defense contractors and other companies associated with the Cyber Command are potential candidates.

Please support Augusta University. The 700 dorms, cancer center expansion, laney walker pedestrian park, and helping to rejuvenate Harrisburg. The MCG Foundation still has plans to create the Gateway at the Kroger shopping center on 15th street(city must relocate bus depot).

Any local realtor interested in up and coming neighborhoods? Definitely add Harrisburg to the list alongside Laney Walker. Congratulations to former mayor Deke Copenhaver and Matt Kwatinetz for beginning this process a few years ago.

The possibilities are endless, but I'm excited for the Harrisburg community. Many people have stuck around through the bad times and their very engaged with the local community.

Augusta will have two up and coming inner city neighborhoods and Bethlehem won't be far behind.

Augusta won' be underrated for too much longer

Old Sibley Mill sees cyber future | The Augusta Chronicle
The principals of Cape Augusta Digital Properties LLC said the 75-year lease they signed with the Augusta Canal Authority, the property’s owner, will enable them to build a 10-megawatt facility that they envision as the anchor of a “cyber-technology park” that would support cyber-related businesses and education facilities. Known as “Augusta Cyber Works,” the development aims to transform the 136-year-old former cotton mill into a green-energy powered technology park that relies on the canal to power the facility’s hydroelectric turbines and keep its data center computers cool.

“For Augusta to be a go-to destination in technology it must take bold steps to be competitive with the major technology markets,” Cape Augusta CEO James Ainslie said in a statement issued Wednesday. “The fact of the matter is that the Augusta Cyber Works development has all the components necessary to galvanize the research and development and commercial activity that are required to focus the incredible energy that we see in Augusta around cyber.” Cape Augusta said it expects to sublease portions of the redeveloped mill and surrounding campus to “technology companies, data center users and operators, integrators and cyber-educators.”

This will be HUGE for Augusta. The city and the Harrisburg neighborhood won't be the same.

Augusta could potentially have three empty structures(Miller theater, Sibley Mill, and Regency Mall) under construction at once. All three have been abandoned for an decade or more. The redevelopment of Regency Mall is the only hold up. Let's work on providing incentives and infrastructure to recruit the movie studios to Regency Mall. If unsuccessful, then please begin the process of eminent domain and build a outdoor sports complex or let Augusta Tech expand.

Additional information regarding the redevelopment of Sibley Mill.

''Cape Augusta CEO James Ainslie said during a news conference at the historic mill that developing the data center could cost anywhere from $90 million to $150 million. He said the project would be tackled in phases and could be partially funded by government incentives, including up to $20 million in tax credits.''

Truly remarkable how fast announcements have come on the heels of ARCYBER being relocated to Fort Gordon. What's even more amazing is these particular projects aren't even in the higher scale in terms of investment. ARCYBER hasn't completed construction of it's HQ's and companies like Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, Cisco and even Apple and Microsoft have yet to announce regional offices and almost every tech company now has interest in the area. This thing could truly blow up exponentially.

The first phase holds enough room for a couple of companies.

Cape Augusta expects to sublease portions of the redeveloped mill and surrounding campus to “technology companies, data center users and operators, integrators and cyber-educators.” Ainslie said the company plans to announce its first tenant later this month at an event that will double as a ground-breaking ceremony for phase one of the project. Earlier this year Cape Augusta filed site plans with Richmond County to renovate more than 36,000 square feet into office space. Ainslie said the yet-to-be-disclosed tenant could move in by November.

I'm really curious to see how far out this pushes. Could we see offices in Bethlehem next?
