If you measure from the Hephzibah post office, you're literally 25 minutes +/- from major shopping/dining areas (Augusta Exchange, Augusta Mall, Mullins Crossing in Evans, Downtown Augusta). Bi-Lo and a Walmart Neighborhood Market are less than 15 minutes away, while your basics can be had right there in Hephzibah from Dollar General and Family Dollar.

When I first moved to the area I strongly considered Hepzibah its a little cheaper and you have a little more space but it was farther away from shopping and etc. It came down to the schools system and I see now I made the right choice I have friends not happy at all with the schools in that area.

There's a KJ Market in the city limits of Hephzibah, and two Bilo's, Food Lion, and Walmart Market within 15 minutes..

The new charter school in Hephzibah attracts kids from Columbia, Burke, Jefferson, etc counties... There's plenty of parents who like the schools in Hephzibah. Around 200 of the kids at the school don't even live in Richmond County.

Nothing wrong with the area at all, though. Are you working anywhere here or is this a retirement move?
This will be a retirement move, guess we need to make another trip to the Augusta area and insist the realtor show us homes in Hephzabah. The first time we came down a month ago, the realtor only showed us homes in Grovetown and implied Hephzabah was a bad area along with Augusta. I felt this was a broad generalization about two cities without much of an explanation except Grovetown, Martinez, and Evans were nicer areas. There has to be some nice areas in Hepzabah and Augusta that could have included in the homes shown.

I kind of want to see more than one area before we make a decision or we could end up renting for a year before we buy to get to know the different areas.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I don't check my posting daily.

That's not a bad drive to the big box stores and restaurants - what I noticed about Hephzabah was that their property taxes seem to be slightly higher based on research.

Yeah, the homes don't seem to be on top of each other like I saw in Grovetown. With schools not a factor for us, because our kids are adults, I can see myself choosing to live in Hephzabah instead of the 3 popular cities because of the traffic congested on the streets in Augusta and Grovetown especially along the long Washington Road street

As long as there are grocery stores within 15 minute from where we live, I'm happy, I think I have enough information now to continue our home search to include Hephzabah, glad I found this site and decided to ask people that may actually live in the city what they thought. I am also considering other cities but the Augusta area seems like a good fit for us.

You are correct, we don't live in Augusta but will be relocating to either Augusta or surrounding cities that have been mentioned in the postings or Pooler Ga in April, Augusta is larger with a bit more to do in the city than Pooler. I mentioned this in my original post - Getting information from a realtor is good but found they can be biased about certain areas and tended to steer us in the direction of Grovetown. We do plan on coming back in a couple weeks to look at homes and try to orient ourselves with the city.

I can't speak for those parents becuase I don't know them personally and I stand by my statement.
