I wonder what their plans are for the building.

Quote:
Blanchard and Calhoun Real Estate Co. represented TaxSlayer in the building’s sale.

“This is a big deal for downtown Augusta,” said Blanchard and Calhoun Vice President Davis Beman. He said the sale signals that Augusta “is ready for businesses to come downtown.”

Jordan Trotter Commercial Real Estate represented the Family Y in the sale. Partner Dennis Trotter said it was “great to see private investment flow into downtown in the past few years,” particularly in the past two years.

The Downtown Y building, erected in 1923, was the first long-term home of Augusta’s Young Men’s Christian Association. Upper levels of the building housed YMCA tenants until the building closed in May 1982.

Default Wow

This is really nice grab for Downtown Augusta. It finally gives Downtown a corporate name that it's own.

Indeed, between this and AU leasing space in the old Wells Fargo Building. Downtown Augusta is on the upswing when it comes to office space.

So does this mean that there will be an empty 5-story building in the heart of Evans, or does this represent that TaxSlayer is in need of additional space aside from the Evans HQ? Believe me, I'm excited to see DT grow, but I really hope this means that TaySlayer is growing right here in our town

Consider Taxslayer deals with online software and the IRS and it was just announced AU would be creating the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences this move may mean Tayslayer may be expanding its cyber blueprint a bit.

No where in the article do I see that TaxSlayer plans to move their HQ from Evans to downtown just that they bought the building.

From what I heard they are not doing as well as they thought in Evans. So it a possibility it could happen but im not sure. But unlike other I don't want to see them relocate to downtown Augusta if they going to leave a empty build in the heart of Evans.

You do realize this is a national company? Being in Evans would have no bearing on their success as they do not prepare taxes for walkins like a brick and mortar tax business.
