I'm from the City of Atlanta, but I've been interested in visiting Augusta for a little minute now with it being one of the biggest cities in Georgia. I'm an up and coming photographer who leans towards shots of different architecture in cities, street art & graffiti, skylines, and urban decay. I love to look at a place on Google Earth before I visit. I was looking at Augusta on Google Earth and I came across this neighborhood called Aragon Park. Most of the street view is from 2012 but there a few views from 2017. The neighborhood already wasn't in the best of shape in 2012 but fast forward five years later and it looks like a vast majority of the neighborhood has been abandoned. There are entire streets such as Walnut Street and Leona Street with nothing but abandoned houses. The one person who I know from Augusta said there's a chance that the neighborhood flooded. In any case I find it fascinating and I want to get some shots of the neighborhood before it's all gone. Does anyone have any info on what might have happened to Aragon Park?

The neighborhood is a brownfield site
Contaminated soil and water
City of Augusta buying out properties and then demolishing them

Ok thank you. Do you know when they started demolishing the houses and are you aware if the city has any plans to clean the soil and water and develop the site any time soon?
