A much needed improvement to make the county roads safer
Quote:
"As we're growing, along these two-lane roads you've got higher speed, higher volumes, we just see a need to start bringing a little bit more visibility to some of these intersections as they come out," said Steve Cassell, the engineering director for Columbia County.

Columbia County wants to bring more light to Evans to Lock, Washington & and Ridge Road in Appling, South Old Belair, Old Evans, and Wheeler Road.

"That would be a much-needed addition. It would just put us up right with the rest of the world," said Cassell.

These five roads aren't the only ones. The traffic engineering department says more lights will be coming once these get installed first.

Commissioners will vote on these streetlights tomorrow.
