I have been offered a position at SRS and my wife need to get to August ASAP to make sure we are ok with moving to the area. It looks like the first chance we will get is during Masters week (hopefully the early part of the week before things really get going). Is there any chance we get an accurate picture of the area during that week?

no, even the strippers are shipped in. You will have no problem finding a space to live for commute to the plant, but Masters week is not the time for a judgement of the area.

Masters Week will NOT give you an accurate picture of what Augusta is like the other 51 weeks out of the year.

Stay off of Washington Rd no matter what you do. There is no chance of riding by to see the action unless your idea of fun is sitting in traffic for hours

Yeah it's a big show like you wouldnt believe

Has anyone experienced heightened crowds already? Went to dinner downtown last night and seemed rather busy for not being a first Friday.

My guess is that its people in town setting up for next week? or maybe just growing crowds.

Unless you have someone to stay with there will be nowhere to stay, most every hotel room within a fifty mile radius is sold out. Augusta during Masters week is horrible, you cannot get around, everyone raises prices double even triple what you would ordinarily pay. The restaurants are packed don't even bother, and traffic is terrible. I guarantee you will hate Masters week unless you have planned your visit well in advance and are coming for the golf crap. Otherwise bring extra money and be prepared to drive quite a ways to get a hotel.

Seems unlikely to be many people here this early. I would suspect only some of the CBS crew members would be here that early...16 days prior. Maybe its just some more people are discovering downtown. I know it was rather loud...into the early morning...

Those were locals downtown. The first wave of masters guest shouldn't start until. The wed-sat before the first practice round on monday.

The traffic on the roads/interstates change big time. Become much more like Atlanta, traffic or bigger city. Also when masters week starts in a couple of weeks. Our downtown will be flooded too.
