Best bet is trying to find a roommate to fit in your budget, but there are two popular options I believe for ASU. I will try to find them names for them (I believe it is university apartments and/or college station)

Also try here Find Apartments for Rent near Augusta State University ( ASU ) Off Campus Housing in Augusta, GA. Map Search.

To give you an idea, I have a duplex available on Telfair St (which is currently rented out) that is 1 bed 1 bath each side (1200 sq ft each unit) that rents for $450-500/mo. That includes water and security. Here is a map from my house to ASU. from: 33.467822,-81.95466 to: 2500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904 (ASU Bookstore - Textbooks & ASU Gifts!) - Google Maps

University village is the newer complex. UV provides a security guard at the front gate. You have to stop and tell them the name of the person. You are coming to see in order to enter. So its going to be a safe area. College station is the older one. Forest Hills, UV, and CS are all 15 minutes to downtown.
