Anyone know of any really good haunted houses being done around Augusta? Does Fatmans still do anything? I am looking for the more adult type deals than the kids ones..

Could have sworn I heard something about them either going out of business or moving everything to Fat Mans West. I know I heard of a Fat Mans auction (middle of the Spring time this year) where the outside little Train was sold off. I rode it once as a child.

I know there used to be a lot of Halloween activities in augusta i guess it all dried up. Me and my wife get a kick out of haunted houses and general Halloween sillyness .

Default Haloween Parties

DISCLAIMER: I am not promoting any religion Nor trying to force religion on anyone as my religious beliefs are Mine and may clash with yours.

Most of, and the best types of Haloween festivities for children are now being held by the major local church organizations. They usually have volunteers that give out candy outside the buildings with some activities inside the larger halls of the Church. I for one donate bags of candy to a local church for the reason that I know it to be a safe environment for the children. There is no worry for people of ill repute causing problems. You may or may not wish to volunteer your time doing this as I am sure you would get more satisfaction from enjoying the children having a safe enjoyable time. Adult themed Haloween parties are just not for me as there are usually problems associated with them. I do however love to spoil my Nieces and Nephews as I cannot have children myself.

Blood Plantation in Evans.
Redcliffe Plantation in Beech Island, SC (across the river)
Both are open for October, 2009

Alas, Fat Man's is gone for good. For Christmas, I will have to drive out to the Christmas shop in Charleston. As an Augusta native, I will miss Fat Man's as a part of my life. My best memories are of taking my nephews over to pick out pumpkins (then let them and their chosen pumpkins ride in the train) and perusing the decorations on a monthly basis to find the perfect ornaments for my perfectionist, disabled mom (before picture phones, I had to describe EVERYTHING I saw).

I feel the holidays have been stolen away with Fat Man's closing.

Smile Haunts in Augusta Area

Well, to answer your question, I have heard of many haunts for THIS year (2009), two came to my attention via someone telling me about hearing them mentioned on some radio station. One will be on Wheeler Rd, another on Pleasantville Something or Other...that's all they told me. As for Plantation Blood, I had actually volunteered to be a "monster" for it, but not only did the guy not ever call me back (not to mention the fact that every single time I went down there to talk to him in person him and a group of people were always just sitting around drinking beers and smoking cigarettes instead of working on the house), but also, someone told me that they heard from someone "official" that Plantation Blood got shut down due to failing the fire code inspection from faulty wiring or something, so I cannot even say if Plantation Blood is still happening... I REALLY hope they just "fixed" the problem, b/c it looked like it was gonna be sick! (in a good way!)
