I heard if from the manager him self. He said if their sales donot pick up by next summer then they WILL close. They are going to try for one more year to be succesfull in Augusta. They really do have lower prices than Publix and Kroger now. If that is why you dont shop there then you need to give them another chance. Augusta do not let this store go.

I don't know if y'all have been to Earth Fare recently, but it has been jumpin' lately! I live nearby and do a lot of my shopping there, and it has really become popular in the last so many months. The thing is, Earth Fare is not necessarily a gourmet boutique - it is a healthy supermarket. They offer a variety of items that are tailored for specific diets (gluten free, vegetarian or vegan) and they also don't carry anything with artifical preservatives or sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup... plus they promote local produce, which is helping out area farmers and growers to survive these "difficult monetary moments" (ugh, I'm so tired of the phrase "tough economic times"

I was glad to see the steady business they had a few weeks ago on a thursday. I worked on my laptop there in the cafe area and noticed that they had a steady flow of customers at their checkout counters. This was between 3 and 5:30.

I did almost all of my shopping there when I lived in Columbia.

Unfortunately, the one in Augusta isn't near me and honestly is in a out-of-the-way area. I don't see why the Exchange couldn't add a grocery store...something like EarthFare or Harris Teeter would make me happy. Again sadly, Augusta still lacks the overall classy and health conscious crowd required to make place like EarthFare thrive. They would rather buy the 80/20 ground beef from the BiLo and load up on other junk food than care about organic and natural foods.

These days, I am shocked when I enter someone's home and see the cupboard stocked with white bread and tons of other junk. Don't even get me started on a health rant...I'm not perfect by any means, but some people just amaze me.

actually, back in the 1990's there was a Harris Teeter in the shopping center by the Exchange where the Omni gym is now located. i wish they would try a location here again. and also before Winn Dixie pulled out of Georgia, there was one in the Exchange where hhgregg currently is.

You nailed it. I shop there because I don't have to worry about HFC's, harmful preservatives, hormones, etc in our food. They support local growers. You can go to the meat counter and see exactly which farms grow the meat. I love the staff! They are always willing to help or chat. If you go to the meat dept., they will help you select something if you need input and they will even cut it the way you want it. I know most grocers will, but most of them are so busy that it is just a hassle for them to deal with you.

As far as the discount, Wednesdays are the day to go. Student, military discount day on Wednesday. I think the senior discount is all week. 10% is a nice discount. I hate loyalty cards, so I hope they don't do that.

Their lack of sales probably has a lot to do with people wanting cheap, not healthy.
