The medical commons building should start in 2011-2012.... According to MCG it's going to be 5 floors.... The medical commons building looks much smaller compared to the dental School which MCG list as 5 floors.... I guess the dental school will appear to be around a 7-8 story building(the extra on the top)... The Medical District is known for the space age designs..

The medical education commons will connect to the new dental school building via a third-floor corridor. The project also includes expansion/renovation of the medical school's gross anatomy space in the Carl T. Sanders Research and Education Building to accommodate a growing class size

Medical College of Georgia (http://www.mcg.edu/sod/expansion/ - broken link)

Scroll down to the bottom of the link and click on "architectural drawings", the new school of dentistry is only 5 stories.

In my 7:52pm post I said the dental school would be 5 floors... The medical commons is a five story building too.... In the rendering the dental school appears to be much taller.... The extra design at the top makes the dental school appear to be taller... A bigger version similar to the top of the Cancer Center.....

Haven't been on that part of the extension yet... neat how a road can give such a different view of a portion of the city. Good pic!

It's only a matter of time before we start to see taller condo/hotel/medical building developments. A mid rise hotel is coming to the area where the pic is taken. A Holiday Inn Express will be built on 2 acres at 1453 Walton Way/Old Bailie street.

So, there's going to be 2 holiday inn express' downtown? One to be in the medical district and then the renovated old hotel on Broad and 4th? Good news.
