Do you think it will hurt the businesses?

I personally don't think it's a good idea, the Downtown area needs to become more of a necessity for people before this happens. Right now the restaurants and stores there are more like 'luxury items', people go there and use them, but they don't really depend on them or make them part of their daily activities. We should focus on making the Downtown area a part of peoples everyday lives before doing something that would essentially charge people for going there.

I think a better use of that million dollars would be using it to install security cameras along the streets and alleys in downtown, this would perturb anyone from taking part in illegal activity because someone would always be watching. This would in turn make people feel safer downtown during the night and day, resulting in more traffic flow downtown.

It would keep me out of downtown. I'm not into paying for parking unless it's a garage. I'm sure a million dollars could be spent better!

It will also affect tourists. When we travel we don't usually keep change to pay for meters. This was a HUGE problem when we went to Nashville this summer. Made our stop downtown last only about 30 minutes. We left and spent our money elsewhere.

I agree, it would seem reasonable that, when there are places to shop wherein I do not need to pay to park, and there is the downtown where I do have to pay to shop, do ya wanna guess where I am most likely to spend my money????
