I agree hephzibah is a good place to live. Its very nice & quiet. The city limits of hephzibah are very rural though like a small town. There are alot of new subdivisons, and gated communites being built

The graduation rate of Hephzibah High is only 39%.. think about that if you have kids in school.
The area is also quite a ways from any restaurants or shopping..you would have to drive close to 20 miles to west Augusta and columbia county to get to decent restaurants and shopping..
The area is mostly rural.. lots of trailers.. it all depends on what you are looking for.

What does hephzibah drop out rate have to do with anything. If your kid does his work, hes gonna fail because another kid doesnt do his work. You ppl crack me up about schools and whats supposed to be a good or bad school. I know ppl who went to some of the worst schools in ny but still went to college. Again if your child does his work, if somebody else kids doesnt that wont affect your child's future. I can some posters havent been to augusta in a long time. Some kids who live in hephzibah go to cross creek not hephzibah. Once again from tobacco rd to willis foreman they are building alot new subdivisions from 100 400k about 20 mins from west augusta. the city limits though of hephzibah is pretty far about 30 mins from west augusta.

Cross creek has a higher dropout rate than hephzibah..
I don't know about you, but I would want my kids in an environment where the majority of students value an education.. Typically schools with higher dropout rates also have higher disciplinary problems.. which takes away from those who are there to learn.
Sending your kids to a school where dropping out is the "norm" will make them think that dropping out is "normal".. The company one keeps is very influential.. especially among impressionable teenagers.

Harlem high school in columbia county just had a gang fight with over 30 kids. Columbia county is still so great huh. Yeah send your kids to harlem, since columbia county public schools are so great.

Hephzibah is not a bad place to live but it is a rural area. If you are looking for a quite environment, you can find it. The problem with Hephzibah is if you live near the paper plant. It can really stink at times but there are nice homes along the Brown Road and Old Waynesboro Road area. It is true that you will have to drive at least 20 mins to get to just about anywhere. But like one of the others participants stated, it is about what you are looking for.

I lived in Hephzibah and didn't have any problems there; not at all. You can find homes with land; much more than you will in Columbia County for a decent price and lower taxes. However, I will have to agree with the other participants who stated you can't go wrong with Columbia County. I can't advice you on schoools as I don't have school age kids but I am a firm believer that you, as a parent, must follow up with where the schools fail in educating your children. If you like a suburban lifestyle then CC is the way to go.

Best of luck.
