Palm Village-Augusta, a Lilly Pulitzer signature store is coming to the Surrey Center in mid-March.
Quote:
Palm Village-Augusta, a Lilly Pulitzer signature store, is expected to open a location in the Surrey Center in mid-March, just in time to provide Masters Week fashions.

“We think that Southern girls really understand our brand, and Georgia needs more Lilly Pulitzer,” said Eleanor Nelson, director of stores. “The Surrey Center presented us with the right clientele and an excellent location right in the heart of Augusta”

Lilly Pulitzer started her clothing line in the late 1950s in Palm Beach, Fla. The brand is characterized by its bright colors and bold prints, and its iconic shift dresses that first gained popularity after becoming the dress of choice by then First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in the early 1960s.

As the brand’s popularity increased, many signature stores, such as Palm Village-Augusta, have been created all across the country.

“As a Lilly Pulitzer signature store, we are fully licensed to sell Lilly Pulitzer,” Melissa Chambers, Store Manager, said. “We are 100 percent pure Lilly, but not a corporate store.”

Augusta previously had a Lilly Pulitzer signature store location at the Surrey center owned by Susan Thielke. However, since Thielke’s location closed, the only way for CSRA residents to get their Lilly fix was to make the drive to Columbia or Atlanta, or order straight from LillyPulitzer.com.

Palm Village-Augusta is in the process of hiring. Applicants can apply at shoppalmvillage.com.

A new BBQ chain called Woody's opened their first Georgia location in Augusta today. It's located at Wrightsboro Rd and North Leg.
Quote:
Jacksonville-based Woody’s Bar-B-Q has taken over the former Wifesaver building at 1501 North Leg Road to bring its brand of Southern barbecue to the Peach State for the first time.
Local franchise owner Paul Patel said he has been working to develop the restaurant since last summer. Patel said he first sampled the company’s food while traveling and said he believed the quick-serve, all-fresh barbecue concept would go over well in Augusta.
“This is fast food, not frozen food,” he said.
The 3,500-square-foot restaurant, which features standard barbecue fare and side dishes as well as wraps, salads and burgers, also has 2,000-square-feet of outdoor dining space, bringing its total capacity to approximately 150 seats. Patel said he plans to employ more than 60 workers at the restaurant, which is located at the corner of North Leg and Wrightsboro roads.
“It’s a good, high-traffic location,” Patel said. “Everybody seems happy to have a barbecue place in that area.”
The Wifesaver restaurant that previously occupied the corner building now operates just south of the intersection, where North Leg meets Sibley Road.
Woody’s was founded in 1980 by partners Woody Mills and Yolanda Mills-Mawman. They began franchising the brand in 1989 and in 2014 created a limited-service concept, Woody’s Bar-B-Q Express.
The full-service Augusta eatery is the company’s 23rd restaurant and its first in Georgia. The restaurant, which will also do catering, features a full bar that will be open until 2 a.m. on weekends and 11 p.m. on weekdays and Sunday.
