I dont hear alot about "family fun" when the French Quarter, Burbon St. or New Orleans is mentioned. Augusta already have visitors(isnt it Masters weeks?), vendors(First Fridays), artist(do you know about Artist Row) and musicians(James Brown comes to mine) from all walks of life.

Most of the vendors at Saturday Market are unique. Their not the same vendors who you see downtown on First Friday.

The market will feature several artist and musicians every Saturday. First Friday is once a month. Artist Row is one section on Broad street. This will add to the artist & musicians who are downtown on the regular weekends. Their will be entertainment all over downtown(Riverwalk, Common, Eighth Street Plaza). Instead of mostly centered around Broad street.

Since alot people bring their kids out to First Friday. Mostly during the hours between 12 noon-8 pm. I'm sure they will bring them out to Saturday Market. Saturday Market is a laid back atmosphere compared to First Friday. Especially the First Friday after 9pm. It turns into Augusta's version of Mardi Gras.

I think she wants a LARGE constant flow of traffic all over downtown. Augusta downtown is lively especially upper broad but it could be more ''major city''. Especially to somebody coming from a much larger city New Orleans.

I didn't make the acronym up. A person who lives in Southwest Augusta made up the term. Southwest Augusta Georgia equals SWAG. New neighborhoods such as Elderberry at the intersection of Jimmie Dyess and Gordon Hwy. Along with Willhaven on Gordon hwy btw Jimmie Dyess and Harlem. They both are in zip code 30909. Both are located in less than one mile of the West Augusta/South Augusta border. Both are zoned for ARC even though they live closer to Glenn Hills high school.

The market on the river is great for downtown Augusta. I went the last two saturdays and had a good time.
