The Courtyard by Marriott on Stevens Creek Road in West Augusta opened it's new lobby(fits with Marriott International's Refreshing Business lobby concept).

The front desk was replaced with separate welcome pedestals.... A new 52-inch LCD touch screen packed with local information, maps, weather, news, business, and sports headlines was installed. The WiFi is free & more computer terminals were added. There's also a new dining area inside the hotel.....

The actual construction of the $340 million(excluding equipment installation and interior components-probably around 1 billion) 500k sq. ft. National Security Agency is finished... The building is expected to be fully occupied in 2012 or 2013...Soon 3,000 employees can move into the building.. The number of employees will expand over the next couple of years.. 100 to 150 additional Air Force personel could be coming to the NSA in the next 12 to 18 months...

Move into complex to begin soon | The Augusta Chronicle

The NSA, largest Microsoft Academy, Cisco Networking Academy, and US Signal Center .... Along with being one of the Army's first locations for smart phone app development.. Great chance to become a Silicon Valley in the southeast... Or Augusta could become another Raleigh because of the robust medical community...

Doubtful, have you by any chance heard of the Triangle in NC?

But anyway, having this facility in Augusta is certainly cool.

The Triangle is geared more towards research rather than Information Technology.... The Triangle is certainly ahead of Augusta at the moment... But the Triangle doesn't have the largest Microsoft IT Academy in the world.. The largest Cisco Academy or an National Security Agency...

The Microsoft IT Academy trains 2,500 people a year... Over a ten year period there's 25,000 trained and certified individuals... Rural Sourcing(100 jobs) moved into the Enterprise Mill downtown last year.. The corporate at Rural Sourcing knew finding qualified IT workers wouldn't be a problem...

Then we still have one of the most advanced medical communities in the united states..

Anyone know what is going at the corner of Peach Orchard and Rosier Rd in South Augusta where the old propane building once stood?

They cleared out all the land around it and have leveled it off and poured a small slab for a building.

It does seem kinda strange to move right across the street...

On a side note: I was driving on Jimmie Dyess pkwy and wanted to check out the status of the new 25 acre shopping center.. Almost of all the trees in the property are now gone...

The actual construction has to start sometime this year... I mean the Jimmie Dyess/Belair rd/Gordon Hwy corridor is growing SUPER fast... Another neighborhood on top of the 197 acre Haynes Station is underway(Mccoys Creek) on Gordon Hwy west of Jimmie Dyess pkwy... Soon Southwest Augusta will need a new elementary, middle, and highschool...

Don't forget a large mix-use development(Dyess Park) is planned for SWAG aka Southwest Augusta.

Good for that area as that is where I was born and grew up at. Honestly everybody in grovetown claims southwest augusta before west augusta.

Three to four large trash dumpsters are located in the National Hills shopping center... The Electrolux center moving into the old Dillards is underway.... There's a parking lot expansion taking place at National Hills also...

Golf Legends Club is opening in the same shopping center.. They're moving into the building next to the Fresh Market... The company recently opened a presentation center in the Simons building...
