Augusta added 300 payroll jobs from March to April, the Georgia labor department reported this morning.

Economist touts Augusta economy | The Augusta Chronicle
Augusta had the state's second-best economy growth in the first three months of the year and a forecast released today predicts it will keep that ranking throughout 2010.

Overall improvement in Georgia's economy will boost Augusta's workforce, too, by 1.1 percent in 2010, even though the state as a whole will still be shedding jobs at about that rate.

Augusta jobless rate improves | The Augusta Chronicle
The Georgia Department of Labor reported today that the preliminary unadjusted unemployment rate in metro Augusta declined to 8.5 percent in April, down seven-tenths of a percentage point from a revised 9.2 percent in March.
