Looking for ideas?

From Long Island - bringing my 14 year old son to see his two sisters, 24 and 23 that both live in Austin. Been searching the internet on things to do.

Daytime - found plenty of things. Considering a White Water River Trip, 3 to 5 hour trips down the San Marcos river.

Any suggestions in what to do with a teenager in the evening? Having a 14yr old rule's out 6th street.

Thanks

Not necessarily, depending on how sophisticated he is he may enjoy Esther's Follies. :: Welcome to Esther's Follies ::

And of course, bat watching is always a good time.

You could take him to a Round Rock Express game if they are playing or the Toros basketball I think they usually play in the evenings.

The Official Site of Minor League Baseball | Round Rock Express Homepage

THE OFFICIAL SITE OF THE NBA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE: Austin Toros

You could make a day trip down to San Antonio and go down on the Riverwalk for lunch and check out the sites down there like the Alamo,Market Square and Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

This is kind of typical, so there are probably places like this in Long Island, but you can take him to Austin's Park and Pizza. He might enjoy the go-carts if thats his kind of thing. I think it closes at 11 pm. I have a 15 year old son, but he likes to hang out with his friends at the mall and movies, so he doesn't do anything out of the ordinary. If I think of anything else, I'll be back.

Out of curiosity, why don't you ask the two sisters?

I also wouldn't completely rule out downtown, it may be worth just strolling around, there may even be a show or two that allows < 18 (e.g. Austin Music Hall, Antones) at the time. Might even get lucky and run into Leslie

Unfortunately you just missed the Stars hockey season up in Cedar Park. Also just missed the ROT rally.

Also there's Main Event (bowling, rock climbing, video games, laser tag) and Dave and Buster's (mainly video games), both NW off of 183.

depending on the day of the week, there's alway blues on the green and the bats on the bridge -- better re-check the river trip -- some have restrictions since the floods last week

You should see what's playing at the Alamo Drafthouse. My kid always enjoys that and the food is pretty good.

If the sisters won't feel too OLD , there's Cosmic Bowling at the UT Underground. Plenty of other games as well. Our 14 y/o nephews really enjoyed it last year. Enough students to make it interesting but not usually crowded during the summer break.

schlitterbahn
there is a high end go kart racing (not kiddie karts) at iron rock raceway
renting a boat/jetskis on lake travis is great (night fishing)
