What does 'green' mean, anyway?? When Mr. "Incovenient Truth" Gore owns 4 homes, including a 10,000 SF home in California, the need for me to drive a sh1tbox like a Volt seems kind of unnecessary.

Positive or negative, people can have their opinions. No city is 'all that'. I came from NYC, which I frankly admit has more entertainment offerings, diversity, yada yada, but come on, we're talking about NYC, which is over 7 million people.

Austin is just a different place, and that's ok. You can't really pigeonhole it at all. I just like the laid back, calm, atmosphere at this point in my life. Having all those things -- more entertainment, more this and more that, comes at a price. The price is quality of life, and increased population. That said, I like Austin (and its suburbs), regardless of what it does or doesn't have.

Dont look now but theres 1.6 mil in what is considered the Austin metro area. It is a large city whether it likes it or not.

There's nothing against the TOS about posting negative opinions about a place.

But since the OP doesn't appear interested in opposing viewpoints, this really isn't an interactive topic that belongs on a message board. The original post and the OP's reply seem to be more along the lines of a personal narrative. The management of City-Data prefers that personal narratives be posted in a blog post, rather than a forum post. Thread closed.
