I'll be relocating to Austin soon, and am having a difficult time narrowing down a preschool for my 2 year old. Anyone have opinions on which is the best out of these three: Rising Stars, Primrose, or Children's Center of Austin. The Montessori ones in our area are out due to either potty training restrictions, age restrictions, or not accepting part-time students. Thanks in advance for your opinions!

It would help if you tell us what city, what area you're talking about. These are all franchises, but some might have the same owner... that means they're all different.

They are all for-profit, I believe. I try to avoid those. But definitely knowing what location would help.

Open door preschool

We really loved the Open Door. They are a non-profit. I was really impressed with the staff and they have a great outdoor space at the central one.

Primrose is in Bee Cave, Children's Center is in Steiner Ranch, and Rising Stars is located at 3307 El Salido Parkway. Thanks

Where will you be working? Those are all very different areas... The traffic going north and south on 620 past Lake Travis Middle and High school is tough, so I wouldn't drive down to Primrose just for the school if you're not heading that way to work.

My daughter is at Primrose and we're happy. I didn't like all the structure at first, but she is only 2 1/2 and knows way more than I thought she would know by this age. She can sing her ABC's, count to 40, knows sign language and Spanish, etc... I'm sure part of it is what we do at home, but with the school reiterating it all, it has sunk in much quicker than many of the other kids.

Oh, and I helped get them a little, tiny potty as I kept complaining my daughter couldn't go without a step stool to reach.

If you are looking for a part-time program, check out Lake Travis United Methodist Preschool on 620. We have been thrilled with them. Fully accredited and non-profit.

depends what you want from the preschool. they are quite different. our friends didnt really like any of them and preferred montessori schools although I understand your issues. one of our friends also sent her 3 year old to abercorn international in lakeway but thats a full school, 5 days a week which may be too much of a time commitment.
