Please don't butt out, Jobert. You've been a big help. I just needed some clarification after getting some info from you guys in the recent past. We have heard so many different opinions from different sources on where to buy a house. Just trying to sort through it all and figuring out what is best for our family, and doing it from a distance is a challenge. Thanks for all of your input.

My 2 cents....
Cowan Elementary is rated Exemplary and with my 2 sons (one going into 4th and one going into 7th) going there I have been VERY pleased!
We are zoned for Covington MS and while it gets a bad rap from most, my son is having much success there also. He is in all AP classes and fitting in quite well. He began MS at a magnet school for math and science focus, but actually had a much more difficult time there socially than at the neighborhood school. Many of the parents who were involved in the PTA etc at Cowan are now involved at Covington and I forsee much progress and already feel its reputation is unwarranted.
And we are zoned for Bowie HS, where everyone says "is the place to be". Not sure how it will be by the time mine get there, but I feel pretty comfortable with the situation...not worried about the change in demographics someone mentioned earlier.
My area is 78749, East of Mopac between Wm Cannon and Slaughter. This area has PLENTY of homes in your price range....Some of this area is zoned for Boone Elem. and what little I know of it, I think it is a fine school, too. Not sure what the rating is. It is an older school, where Cowan is about 10 yrs old.
