I'm in need of a stylist who can give me a good, modern cut even though I have very thick wavy to curly hair. I'd prefer a stylist who has curly hair (but it's not a requirement). Any personal recommendations?

Google "naturally curly" and go to the naturallycurly website. It's great resource and there is a section where curlies recommend good stylists in different locations for people with naturally curly hair.

I have used that website in the past and the stylist I chose (who had several positive reviews) did not give me a good haircut. I'm hoping that someone who has personal experience with this sort of thing can point me in the right direction.

I know you're seeking personal experience, and I've yet to try any stylists in Austin, but I've been searching for stylists for my curly hair, as well. From my research, a Deva-certified stylist would be your best bet. The certification originated from the DevaChan salaon in New York. There are several Deva-certified stylists in Austin. You can google them. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up about Deva. They are awesome products and the ones that I currently use. I've used some of their stylists in other states...really great experiences. The stylist I used most recently in Austin was also Deva trained and it just was not good. If you happen to find a great stylist in Austin, please feel free to let me know! I am desperate!!
