How is the Asian Indian Population in Austin?

Do a lot of cute Indian girls go to UT Austin? Just asking as I am getting ready to choose a residency and also would like to meet someone (want to marry and Indian girl).

Thanks!

I don't know the exact percentage, but there are a lot, especially in masters and Ph.D. programs. It's always been like that at U.T.-Austin. Most of the Asian Indian gals I've met here are highly educated and career-minded, if you don't mind those traits in a wife.

Austin's sort of different in that it's not segregated. We're all intermingled. You won't find Asian Indian neighborhoods or anything like that.

If you "don't mind" those traits...that's funny. Where can I go to find uneducated, low-ambition women in Austin?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Asian Indian women I've met in Austin don't really have marriage and settling down as a primary goal in life. I'd say they're more focused on getting their dissertation and getting a tenured position ...

Well, what's the point of getting a PhD if you're ultimate goal is to be a housewife? So I wouldn't be surprised if most PhD students are career oriented.

NW Austin that feeds into Laurel MT Elementary, Canyon MS and Westwood HS is heavily Indian, even folks who send their kids to private schools or live just over the line in AISD and go to LASA tend to be clustered in that general area. Jester is heavily Asian-Indian too!

Thanks so much for all the info!

I am glad to see that the college atmosphere encourages a lot of Indian students to come to UT Austin!

What about the singles scene? Is it easy to meet these Indian women out? Bars? Coffee Shops? Wine Tastings? Etc?

Is there a Hindu temple in Austin? Tried to google...couldn't find it

Also, here is an awesome slideshow and resources for future Austin seekers...this was on the residency program I may pursue:
