Any thoughts on this? Trying to re-locate. Prices seem to be all over the board all over the city. All the builders are saying the same thing. Discount, best deal, 50% off this or that, blah, blah, blah. I just want a good home for a good price that is built well, in a good area with good schools and meets my family's needs. I have heard RRISD, LTISD are among the strongest. Also, Leander has come up. However, I have stopped and asked people in Starbucks which areas of town are best and gotten as many answers as the people I have asked. Man, thought this was going to easier.

I am not surprised you hear different opinions about which areas are best. There are after all many people in Austin each with their own preferences and needs.

Which area is most convenient for work? The schools in RRISD are very good, as they are in LTISD. RRISD is a much larger school district with multiple large high schools. LTISD has just one high school.

Based on your other thread about builders it seems for $300-400K you should be able to find what you want. I am not a realtor so I do not know as much about specific areas where new homes in that price range are being built. You haven't said what size home, and what other things are important to you.

Smart money buys a re-sale instead of new!

Where will you be working? Live close to that! Nearly everywhere in central Texas is "good" and even the "not-so-good" areas are much much better than most places.

Also, price point?
