Hi Austinites who used to be Seattleites! I am craving Pagliacci's in a bad way! Although I know there's no replacement, I would like your advice on where YOU go for good pizza? Back in the day, I used to love Hot Lips Pizza on the Ave too.

I live in NW Austin, so anything central on Northwards would be great.
Thanks for your recommendations!!!

We haven't found anything like Pagliacci here. Sorry.

I'm no Seattleite, but those places sure seem expensive! $30 bux for a large specialty pizza at Hot Lips? What do they make those out of?

Maybe I should clarify a little. I know nothing will be like those places, just wondering where someone who has lived in Seattle likes to go for pizza here?
There are so many places and styles here, I thought I would narrow it down a bit this way...

Yeah, 30 bucks for a large pizza is expensive. I only bought by the slice, 2 dollars per huge slice. One to two slices was good for me.

Honestly, and this will make you laugh, we have been so underwhelmed by pizza here that we just get the Costco food court pizza now. We went to Austin Pizza for a kid sports team event last year and it wasn't bad.

Have you tried Home Slice? Or Saccone's in Round Rock?

This is not a pizza town--well, not good pizza anyway.

The best here is Reale's, on 183 & Anderson Mill.

On average, this is a shockingly bad pizza town. I have had good pizza at Reale's (North), East Side Pies (East) and Homeslice (South). The best pizza I have had in Austin has been at House Pizzeria on Airport (North Central) - very good but not great pizza. I have had mediocre to passable pizza at Austin Pizza, Cippolina, Mandola, Red House and Asti. I have had atrocious pizza at too many places to recall, but a few stand-out horrors include Mangia, Romeo's and Brick Oven. If you get really desperate, San Antonio has a few very good pizza places - better than anything I have found here. Good luck in your search!

I've actually enjoyed Mangia's Spinach stuffed pizza.
