My husband and I are planning to go to Austin for the 4th, and were wondering if anyone knows whether or not we will be able to see any fireworks from the west side of Lake Travis, around Jonestown. We have some land out that way (just purchased recently), and are from Houston, so don't know the area that well yet... We're also considering the Oasis, but figure that will be packed and don't know if we'll see anything from there unless we're lucky enough to get a table near the rail(s). Any "local" advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Lakeway park has a great show. Lots of lawn space, bring a blanket.

Smile Volente Beach Fireworks

In addition to the Lakeway show, which is
quite a ways from you in Jonestown ...

Just saw a commercial for Volente Beach and they mentioned a 4th of July fireworks show. They are kind of across from Jonestown, just outside of the main cove, so you may be able to see them. Otherwise, you'd go out 1431 towards Cedar Park, take a right on Lime Creek Rd and that will eventually get you to Volente Beach. I'm sure there would be details on the timing and show on their website. Good Luck!

Carlos 'n' Charlie's also typically does a 4th of July fireworks show as well. That one is closer than Lakeway too. They usually do not do their show the same night as Lakeway though, so you can get two shows in, maybe even three depending on the schedules!

Cool Fireworks from the Water?

Are you able to see any fireworks from the water? We are considering pulling out boat up and watching from the lake... Thanks for any advice and guidance!

I grew up in Jonestown so I can tell you from experience that any shows you find around there aren't going to be that big. That was over 10 years ago so they may have shows out in Point Venture, Lago Vista, or at Jones Brothers Park in Jonestown that have since got better, but your best bet for a good show nearby is actually in Cedar Park, at Elizabeth Milburn Park. (Not on the lake if that matters to you) It's a day long event so if you have kids you might want to come early for that too. It's sponsored by HEB so I think that's why they can do such a good show. The best show you can find of course is downtown Austin at Zilker park but that's a bit of a drive from Jonestown when you consider the amount of traffic. here's the link for Cedar Park:
City of Cedar Park - Fourth of July (http://www.ci.cedar-park.tx.us/cp/pr_events_fourth.aspx - broken link)
Good luck!

We went to the fireworks at Volente Park one year, maybe 2 yrs ago because we just happened to be at the Lake that day. It's a decent show. You can watch them from the water (although we didn't, we had our car parked). The cops creat a barrier, so you can only get so close. I remember seeing at least 3 other fireworks shows from where we were, and I think Carlos N' Charlies was one of the other ones.
