I would live downtown as there are the most facilities for young people there including great music. I think the student body from UT is so diverse that you will fit in well

As long as you don't plan on trying to get a job it's a great town. Once you add in the fact that a job is usually necessary to live and there aren't any to be had in Austin, you might want to look elsewhere. 6 years of service experience, and there's not even a job as a waiter? WTF.
