Hello, we are recently in the process of purchasing our first home in Manor, TX-after LOTS of looking this was the most reasonable area that we saw fit in our budget and commute-and yes, I know homes in this area will be harder to resell but does anyone know if their are any plans for some major stores in the future? HEB, WALMART, Target, anything?

Target may be coming to Hutto, and Hutto is further away from Austin, so if we're getting any of these stores, I'm sure Manor will too

Villa Muse is supposed to be coming, the New Technology High School just opened, etc. Check out www.villamuse.com though. I think you'll like it.

We've been house hunting as well and loved what you could get in Shadow Glen for the money. We're still looking at places in Buda and Cedar Park though as well since the schools aren't doing so great in Manor.

Moved here almost two years ago, live in Shadowglen subdivision. For the first time the Manor newspaper mentioned a grocery store and home builders store about a month or so ago. We feel we will get one or both within two years because of the growth. Right now I use HEB in Elgin (11 mi.), Walmart at 290 & I35 (14 mi) or HEB at Palmer & I35 (18 or 20 mi). Elgin HEB is smaller but very easy, little traffic, to get to. There is a Lowes, WalMart, Target, Home Depot and various other stores at Parmer and I35. There are a couple of Food Marts in Manor that sell bread, eggs, milk, etc. For now I've learned to make a list and stock up, actually I'm saving gas because I'm not making lots of little runs!

Default Major Grocery Stores

A New Subdivision By The Name Of Entrada Is Due To Be Put In Adjoining Reata Ford. That Subdivision Should Have An Heb. Otherwise Elgin Or Austin Are The Closest At Present.

Actually the schools in Manor have made some gains according to the last AEIS report. The middle and high school are both ranked acceptable now. (This is at a time that many schools ratings lowered due to tougher standards.)

Default 130/290/Opportunity

Let's not forget two things. First, State Highway 130 will be completed from U.S. Highway 290 down to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport later this year. Second, U.S. 290 is slated for a possible toll expressway between Manor and U.S. 183 sometime in the next couple of years. Manor now has more access than ever, which means more opportunities for growth in that area. We are seeing that in Pflugerville. Manor is next, so get ready. This town will need to prepare for those growing pains. The amenities will eventually come. They have to.

Yes, and this is going to be HUGE, it will transform that area and probably help property values tremendously. Does anyone have new info about this? I first heard about it around 3 months ago and they said they had already broken ground on it, supposedly it will include housing for 20,000 people and almost as many jobs, plus the largest single-purpose sound stage in North America. I'm surprised there isn't more news and talk about this. Perhaps the project is on hold...
