Could someone help me understand the mcmansion ordinance limitations in layman's terms? I've been looking at a couple of properties that could be really nice if I was able to expand them a bit in the future.

You or your architect should look up the details but in general there are rules about:

- the front set back distance (varies depending on area)
- the rear and side set backs (something like 10ft from the back and 5ft from the sides)
- envelope of house cannot poke out of the planes that start 15ft up from the sides of the lot and go 45 degrees towards the center of the lot (if that makes sense)
- and other regulations
