Ok, picture number 3 really got my attention. Perhaps there is more going on there than I think!

Where i grew up, going to the lake was free. I could go for an hour, or stay all day. In summer i could go at 7pm when it was getting cooler.

I guess i was spoiled in my youth. It seems at Lake Travis that i have to pay to get anywhere near the water and i can only be there at certain hours. Lake Austin isn't so bad... yet.

I guess i should just break down and get an annual permit and get it over with in one blow.

Where did you grow up? Is it still free? I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't free anymore.

Someone has to pay for the parks, the boat ramps, parking, etc. It might as well be the people who use them.
