sorry to hear about your divorce - but it sounds like you are making the best of it. My daughter is 4.5, so if we wind up as neighbors, maybe we could meet up sometime and the girls could play.

The parents I spoke to about the test happy schools said that the teachers were under the gun to make sure their students scored high on the tests. A lot of time was spent drilling the students and teaching them how to take tests more so than learning new material and things they were interested in -- that fell outside the range of what might be on the test. Personally, I find this limiting and short-sighted. It feels like they're putting more emphasis on the school doing well instead of the students. Anyway, there are schools for every philosophy here so it seems... everyone needs to do a little homework so they can determine what is a good fit for their family.
