Where are the best places to buy magazines in Austin? I'm not talking about People or Newsweek or something you can get at the HEB or Wal-Mart... but cool newsstand that carry unique or perhaps even foreign titles? Are there are really cool magazine-heavy newsstands around? Especially any non-big-chain places (I already know about Borders or Barnes/Noble).

Nope, none. Not since Congress Ave. Booksellers closed. Try the airport sorry to say.

I was curious about the same thing. Is there really no place to get out-of-town newspapers, unusual magazines, etc.? Lots of cities have a stand near the Capitol building, but I haven't found one there. I've also looked around near the campus, figuring that was also a likely area, but no luck.

Yes, there is Bookpeople!

But remember Austin is essentially big town, we aren't even the third biggest metro area in the state! You are confusing Austin with a big city -- we are not!
