We want to have a real Christmas tree this year. Has anyone ever been to Elgin Christmas Tree Farm and Evergreen Farms? I'm trying to decide which one to take my kids to.

I heard about paying to park at Elgin for pumpkin patch time - is that true for Christmas time? I'm looking for best prices and not as crowded.

I've been to Elgin and like it. I never had to pay to park.

I decided to go to Evergreen farms in Elgin since they open at 9am on Sundays and Elgin Farms didn't open until noon. It was the feel I was going for - non-commercial and not many people. Slim pickings though. Apparently the drought has been rough on the Christmas tree industry here and it has affected all the farms. With that, my kids had fun and we found a tree that looked great on one side - which is all we needed.

Glad you found one I've seen Evergreen Farms but have never been. I'll have to check it one time.

No "U-cut" this year at this one?

We went to the Elgin tree farm on Monkey road. Most of the trees are gone and from what I could see there were none being planted in that area where the trees were all cut down.

It was depressing. They had Firs shipped in but they are dry. We took the ride on the wagon out to the field but it just felt sad.

Has anyone been out to Elgin Christmas Tree Farm on Nature's Way? Was I understanding the ad to say they were not allowing U-cut?

My other half's family has been going to Seiler's in Seguin for a long time now: Seiler's Tree Farm HomePage

I've been a few times and they always had a bunch of trees. Anyone been to it that knows of a closer farm they prefer? I suppose it's all about the experience, b/c we got a noble fir from home depot this year that is symmetrically perfect and looks better than anything we ever got from Seiler's.
