Hello, I am considering moving down to Austin in may to develop a career in the film industry. Based on what I've researched, Austin is one of the most active (and cheapest) cities that produce films. I was just wondering if any of you who perhaps work in this business can provide any insight at all on it. Thanks so much.

Honestly, if you're wanting to live somewhere with a happening film industry outside of LA or New York, you'd be better off in Shreveport, Louisiana. In the last 3 - 4 years, a lot of the film industry that was developing in Austin has left for Louisiana due to tax incentives offered there. Austin is still home to the SXSW film festival, but most of my contacts who are involved in the film industry have told me that Austin is no longer that happening hotbed for film that it once was.
