Fast Track = Palms have already been generously greased.

That's how it works everywhere, including Austin.

"Environmental concerns" for that area? Maybe the fire ants are going to suffer.

Runoff drainage to the Colorado? We can worry about that when the millions of bats stop pooping in Ladybird Lake and Austin stops draining it's treated sewage into the river.

Yeah, but the point was to get acreage within 15-20 minutes of downtown Austin. Land is still available out there near Mustang Ridge, Creedmoor, etc, but it has become more expensive over the last year.

how much did you want to pay per acre? There is one property forsale (13 acres) for about 20K/acre which isnt bad.

I can't wait to attend a Formula 1 race near Austin. It would be our first time seeing it in person. Was the Texaco Grand Prix of Houston about 10 years ago Formula 1? I can't remember. I think it was though.

I think the only Formula One event ever held in Texas was in Dallas in '84. I think the race in Houston was a Champ Car event.

Thanks Verygoodgnome. I was not sure. The Texaco Grand Prix of Houston was only around like 5 or 6 years. Sorry I could not remember.

So the Speed Network has said there is some big announcement taking place in Austin about the F1 track tomorrow (4/12). Anyone know what it might be?

Speculation seems to be it could be -

* Official name of the track
* Date of the 2012 US Grand Prix (first race on the Austin track)
* Announcement that MotoGP series will also be racing there
