Hi. We are new to Texas and feel completely lost. I have 4 year old and 8 year old girls. In Nevada my 4 year old was active in classes that the Parks and Rec offered and gymnastics. I know that Austin is huge for family things but I am having a hard time figuring out what to put her in and what is my options. We live at FM620 and 2222, so I believe Cedar Park or Lake Travis would be the area closeset for us. If you can help suggest things in the is area to help keep my 4 year old busy I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much!!!

For preschools - my daughters both attend(ed) Lake Travis United Methodist Preschool. It is a part-time, fully accredited program, and I simply can't say enough good things about it. Everyone there is wonderful, it is very reasonably priced (since it's a non-profit), and my kids absolutely love it. My oldest started Kindergarten this year, and she was way ahead of her classmates when she started. I don't know if they will have any openings right now, however.

For activities, check out the Steiner Ranch HOA website (scroll all the way to the bottom to 2011 Winter Spring Programs). Even if you aren't in Steiner, you can still participate. They have tons of options including karate, gymnastics, dance, soccer, art, tennis, kids yoga, music - you name it. They are all reasonably priced (even for non-residents). I think Spring classes start next week. They are also all local organizations that just offer satellite classes out here (Brown's Gymnastics, Austin School of Karate, etc.)
