I see that there is some construction work on Manchaca Road between Marcus Abrams Blvd & FM 1626. Probably making it 2 lanes in each direction.

However it has been going on for a while. Does anyone know more details on it and when it would be done.

IT WAS ORIGINALLY BONDED FOR 5 LANES BUT THEY USED THE BOND MONEY ON OTHER PROJECTS....
TXDOT some how misplaced millions ....
It is being funded by the federal stimulus money and TXDot is milking it for all it worth....
Government spending at it best...
It will be 3 lane with 4 foot bicycle shoulders......

Shouldn't surprise you...how long have they been working on 7th street.
Love it when they don't give a protected green arrow at the manchaca/frate barker light at 6pm and traffic backs up forever....another genius move by our transportation officials. Or even better, why didn't they expand this road 5 years ago when they were building all those subdivisions out there...guess that would have been proactive, and we wouldn't want that!

Default Is this contractor getting paid by the day?

It has been many months since the road improvement project has been happening here. I haven't noticed much progress and was wondering if there is a bonus for stretching the job into 2012, or are they penalized for finishing early? Just when it looked like they were ready to pave, I see 1 guy with a hand shovel scraping away at the edge of some existing pavement. A couple of months ago, there was a road project just North of Ravenscroft up to nearly Slaughter that was done within a matter of weeks.

The businesses along Manchaca have got to be fed up with this nonsense. I know that seeing it on a daily basis is about to drive me (at 40 mph) nuts!
