When we first moved here we were required to make a $380 deposit to TXU Energy and when we made 12 monthly payments in a row on time, the deposit would be returned. Well, on the 12th payment we were two days late. Guess what? We have to wait another year to get our money back. I'm not desperate for the money but I am white hot angry over this ridiculous policy. I'm going to cut them loose if I can find an alternative provider that is not a scam.

Any suggestions? I know there are a lot of energy scams here in Texas since deregulation took over. Help!!!!

I use Reliant Energy in Pflugerville. I have had no problems with them. I pay my bill online, and it's quick and easy.

I found StarTex Power on powertochoose.org. Been happy with them for 2 years.

Just use powertochoose... we've used StarTex, YEP, Amigo... whatever is cheapest that time is the way to go. We've used YEP 100% green for the last couple of years. When deregulated, company doesn't matter - TXU (Reliant in some areas) provides/controls all of the lines anyway no matter what company you're paying.

I was unaware that TXU and Reliant were the same companies. Live and learn

They're not - sorry about that. I was referring to the lines in the state... if I remember correctly, TXU services 1/2, Reliant the other 1/2. I BELIEVE we (Austin-area that is deregulated) is TXU while other parts of the state is Reliant.

***Edit - I lied. Apparently there are a few more options than Reliant and TXU now (and I thought Reliant branched more outside of the Houston area).. http://www.electricitytexas.com/texa...ty_choice.html
