I got a postcard from ATT U-verse saying their rates were going up too. For me it was about $5/month....

I'm not sure where the notion came from that people are suppose to be going, going, going and doing, doing, doing 24/7 or they might be considered "sedentary" or "lazy". I do think it's a rather comical notion though.

Three cheers for the SyFy channel.
To each his own. I've met people who are amazed and bewildered that someone could live without cable as if it is a necessity. And I don't know if you have looked at the average 3rd grade class of late but they are much fatter than when I went to school in the 70's and only had 7 channels to choose from.

Personally, I don't really care about the cable/satellite/whatever, I like the DVR so I can watch stuff when I feel like it. The integrated directory/DVR is their hook . Otherwise, I would be on HD rabbit ears.

Me too. I'd buy a DVR and use HD antenna if there was a decent DVR to buy. Haven't found one yet.

Are you kidding?!?! What's wrong with Tivo - fantastic product. You can buy them cheap too! PM me for more info, or to discuss what you don't like about the product.

So a Tivo DVR knows how to find and record every new episode of, say Hawaii 5-0, over my HD antennae without me having to find it and tell it when and where it is, or if it has changed time slots?

I'm pretty sure it does.

And I think Windows Media Center can do that, too, if you want to go the HTPC route. I'm almost positive MediaPortal will.

I'm not sure it's TV that is making children and adults larger. I have a tendency to go with the changes in the food.

I like the ATT system features a lot more then TW and customer service is better as well.
Call customer service... say cancel my service to the automated system when they ask why you're calling. You'll go straight to a human in retentions and tell them DirecTV, TWC, whomever is trying to get you over with a crazy offer and AT&T will give you promos in a heartbeat. I do it every 6 months plus a day (day after the promos expire) to keep my rates low. I'm paying $130/mo now for fastest internet, U-300 w/HD, movie and sports package and phone... Do it for any and everything you have that locks in rates (electric provider, home/car insurance, etc).
