I ended up going with a package deal from Image Tile. I just couldn't come close to beating the price. I'm crossing my fingers all goes with the install. I'll post my review after they install it in the second week of December. Should be a beautiful walnut floor.

Just make sure that you pay with a credit card so you have som protection. Many people were burned by Image Tile but the people that paid with credit cards were able to get their money back.

We use Austin Hardwood Floors in our last house. We just (3 days ago) had hard woods put in our new home. We only had 600 sq feet done. We went to Austin Hardwood Floors and they quoted us $7800. We then went to Texas Floors near Highland Mall. They were $5200 for the exact same floors. Plus, I think they did a better job.

We just had our floors put in back in November(carpet stop). After wasting a ton of time comparing prices, I'd suggest the following which we inadvertently did after getting frustrated by Image(we got lucky there).

1) Find the floor you want, have them come out and measure, and get a quote of what price they WANT. Now figure out what price you think you could ideally pay. Check online to see what places are selling the wood for (and realize they're making a good profit). Then they've gotta pay the installers, and add some money for trim and glue. So store A quotes you $10000(and try to tell you they're making no money at that price), you think you could probably get it for $7000-7500.

2) Go to another store, tell them another shop is willing to install your floor for $7600, can they beat it? You eliminate all the bs and can be in and out of the store in 10 minutes. You could probably even do it by phone. If you've been to one or two different places and they can't, maybe you really are shooting for too low a price.

Both Austin Hardwoods and Image Carpet & Tile, have gone belly up. Running around putting out major fires, put both under.
