I really don't care how much someone weighs, that has nothing to do with why a person would be a friend of mine. I have friends who are marathon running freaks and very fit and exercize almost constantly and I have friends who are overweight or even obese. It's our interests and personalities and other activities that we all do and have in common that make us friends. One of those marathon running exercize maniacs I know used to be obese and she lost 121 lbs. just by diet and exercize and persistence , no surgeries.

That's great. I think that happens in Austin more than any other place. That's why I think the OP would probably do well in Austin, he/she may be able to lose the weight here instead of in other cities.

I apologize on behalf of this poster. I think that Austin is a very active city and many of the opportunities to get involved in the community seem to reflect this. I love walking the Town Lake Trail, hiking Emma Long and Pace Bend. There are also many marathons but there are also lots of walks as part of the event (I am NOT a runner for many reasons so I've wanted to do more of those short walks). These are just a few examples but I am not a super athlete but find these activities manageable and pleasant so maybe taking part will help you find your way in the community and develop some new interests that are beneficial to your health. Not to mention the endless supply of trainers and weight loss/personal training programs. I have no doubt that your weight is not a result of not knowing how to eat the right foods and portions but from other issues but there are also quite a few cooking classes around town that focus on fresh, local ingredients and also provide a fun activity where you can meet other people.

Just some ideas but I hope you find your way and if that takes you to Austin then I think you will enjoy it!

I received a response from someone in these posts that appeared to be a direct communication
to me. I am brand new to city-data forum ( one week ).

At this time, I do not know how to respond back to a direct message.
I was the "poster" of this thread.

Does "befriend" in the upper left corner of the reply mean that that person is indicating
that they want to be friends or have further communication?
