It's supposed to be below freezing from Tues night until Fri around noon with the lowest temp being 13 degrees. Yikes!

What are people doing to prepare? I have faucet covers outside but I'm clueless as what else to do. That's a long time below freezing.

I've been told hail storms are more an issue in north Austin than SW Austin. My insurance agent told me this. Any truth to that?

Well, the only time that my daughter was in a car in a hailstorm and had to throw herself across the baby sitting in the back seat next to her because the hail broke out the back windshield and was coming in and left her quite bruised was in SW Austin. (The car was totalled.) So not entirely.

Was anyone here around in the early 80s? I was told it got down to 8 degrees one night and killed all of the St. Augustine grass in the area. From this site it looks like 10-20 degrees is the cold hardiness of this grass but that Bermuda is lower:

Looks like another site is claiming 18 to 25 degrees as the lower limits.

I read that St. Augustine can handle 20's but not much below that. The article said to irrigate the grass so the roots freeze which insulates/protects them. So maybe the rain we got last night is enough to protect the grass.
