Hello,

I am looking at buying a house in the Round Rock area, preferably as close to the Round Rock Medical Center on 620 as possible.

I would prefer a neighborhood with no HOA, or very little restrictions if there is one.

Also, are there any Round Rock realtors that you would recommend? I'm looking to buy ASAP.

Thanks so much for the help.

I live in the Greenslopes neighborhood off of Greenlawn/Meadowcreek - no HOA there.

There are quite a few neighborhoods without HOAs in Round Rock. They're likely to be older ones, but some of them are quite nice. I get quite a few clients asking this question these days (well, actually, saying, "I don't want to look at ANY house in an HOA neighborhood", so I know they're there.

Questions would be, what's your price range, what size of house are you looking for, what amenities do you want in or near the neighborhood, are schools an issue, what do you like to do when you're not working?

Paint us a picture and we can point you in a direction.

The older homes are quite nice..bigger lots and mature trees.

In addition to the other questions, what do you consider a "strict" HOA? I wouldn't say most are very strict at all. They don't want you to paint your house hot pink. They don't want you to build a workshop onto your house. They don't want you to attach a basketball goal to your house... things like that. They're all things that help make the neighborhood look nicer and not trashy.

There's aren't many HOAs in the area that have the "no flag hanging on your house" rules. The no parking on the street rules have mostly because city issues, not HOA issues...

So, what do you consider "strict"? The vast majority of newer communities in a subdivision will have an HOA. Homes built further out on acreage probably don't, and many of your older communities don't.

Thanks for the responses everyone. To clarify, I'd like a house on approx 1/4 acre (more or less is fine), around 1700 to 2500 square feet, and no more than $350,000. It does not matter if the neighborhood has any amenities, although a park would be nice. Schools do not matter either. I'm more concerned with finding the right house than where the neighborhood is located, but as close to the RR Medical Center as possible would be ideal.

I consider a HOA to be strict if I would have to have them approve a paint color for my house before painting. Or if I have a fallen branch in my front yard and would get fined if not removed in 24 hours. Stuff like that. I'd also like to build a courtyard with a pond in my front yard...would not want to live anywhere that would restrict that.

Thanks again for the help!

sounds like Sendero Springs, Stone Canyon, Mayfield Ranch, Brushy Creek North, maybe even Tonkawa might fit the bill
