Hi all,

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am going to be opening a new division of my company in Austin (currently headquartered in NYC, where my wife and I live now), and we are very fond of the Lakeway area.

I am trying to determine the best place to put the office, and am curious about the commute times from Lakeway...

What would I be looking at to Downtown?

And then the same question to the tech park areas north of the city?

I would be leaving at probably 8AM and heading home from the office around 6PM...

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

My bro lives in Lakeway and works mopac/183 and at those times its about 45 mins or longer due to traffic. Off times maybe about 25-30 min. He lives a couple of blocks from the airstrip out there. Good luck if you move.

You may want to put the company on the 360 corridor. Then you have the option of taking 2244 or 2222 depending on where you put the company. I'd imagine a minimum 30-45 minutes to there, 45 minutes to 183 Research corridor, 45-60 minutes downtown.

If all your employees will be out your way, then you may want to look into the new business park near 2222/620. They built some brand new office spaces there that are LEED certified, etc... That would be a 15-20 minute commute.

15 years ago, my son used to commute via 620 & 2222 from next to the Lakeway airpark all the way to his bank at I-35 & US 290.

As I recall, it was about 45 minutes back then - but that was before the Mansfield Dam bypass bridge was built.

Given a choice, I would choose a location near the intersection of 360 and Bee Caves Rd. The drive in on 2244 (Bee Caves Rd.) is better than the drive in on 2222. RR620 is a dismal road to drive on because of traffic light hell.

From the main entrance of Lakeway you would take 620, then Bee Cave Pkwy to Bee Cave Rd, avoiding the two turns at SH71.

i agree about bee caves parkway. 2222 currently has construction as does 71 which is slowing things down more than normal.
